Capturing Dance
How did photography and videography become part of AL?
My love of dance led me into filming it. I captured performances and created dance films for students and productions I was part of.
From small projects with students I've mentored since they were 5 to productions with Juneau Dance Theater, videography has become an essential part of what Alaksan Light is.

But the pull toward photography and videography goes back further. I've always loved the art of capturing a moment. Architectural photography and other projects have become a beautiful addition to that work, growing alongside dance films.

I participate in numerous collaborations and productions that sometimes involve my DJ persona or choreography skills. All three parts of Alaskan Light are intertwined throughout everything I do. It's three parts that are essentially one. I often take part in projects as a model or creative director when someone else is behind the camera, since I love the art of capturing itself, not necessarily the role of being behind the lens.
